Kid Kaddy + giveaway

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED…the winner is #173 Carrie!

Kid Kaddy is a brilliant product I recently had the pleasure of trying out with my youngest son who is three.  It’s basically an organized (love that!) and convenient way to carry art supplies.  The unique thing about this product is the way the crayons are separated with their own individual slots and of course the portability of the whole thing.

Did I mention it was brilliant yet?  Oh I did, well that’s because it is.  My son has his crayons and coloring book in his and it has become a church staple for us.  This is the one we have.

Now what I like about this product is that yes it keeps the crayons all nicely organized and separated but that would mean nothing if my son didn’t actually put them back that way.  Well what do you know he actually does.  I don’t know if it’s because all the crayons are all there lined up and separated so he can see which one he wants easily or what but he definitely enjoys not only taking them out but putting them back in as well.  Now that’s brilliant.  Oh wait I said that already.

Created by two sisters, Debbie Gernenz and Kathy Martis, the Kid Kaddy was born as a way to carry not only crayons, but the books as well, in an organized and easily portable fashion.  Very smart thinking ladies.

In fact I now leave my Kid Kaddy right in the van so it’s handy if my son needs something to do while we are traveling or so we can quickly grab it when we get to church or the any other place that requires waiting time and distraction.

Some of the great features of the Kid Kaddy are:

~ two large pockets on the inside that will hold any standard size-coloring book, sketchpad, or notebook

~ a firm, yet light, surface that enhances it’s portability and won’t allow coloring books to bend

~ removable panels to hold crayons, markers, or pencils individually

~ panels can be moved from one side of the Kaddy to the other allowing easy access and acts as a weight to hold down pages

~ made of fabric for a soft feel and includes a hook and loop closure to secure its contents

~ a set of soft handles provides an easy way for small hands to carry

The Kid Kaddy sells for $19.95 and that includes the crayons and coloring book which in my book is a very nice touch.

I get so many compliments on my Kaddy and people are always asking me where I got it from.  It’s one of those ideas that is so simple you wonder why you never thought of it first.  I really do love it!

The two gals of Kid Kaddy are kindly giving away one today to one of you.  The winner will win the Kid Kaddy of their choice from the fabric selections they have available.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below telling me which fabric you would choose if you won (don’t worry you can change your mind later if you want).

Deadline is Monday, June 8th at 6:00 pm PST. NOW CLOSED

Good luck!

Meet the Organize It Mom!

July 14, 2008 | Filed Under Kids | 12 Comments

Laurieann is a Professional Organizer turned WAHM mom who saw a need and set out to fill it. Her site, Organize It Mom, offers all sorts of products (that she creates herself!) to help you organize your days, your kids and your kid’s toys.

I had the opportunity to try a few of these products myself and hands down my favorite were the toy labels. These are absolutely fantastic!

Each kit includes 18 toy labels laminated with removeable adhesive on the back of each label. The are bright and colorful and as you can see each one includes not only the word but a picture as well. In the picture below I’ve added the lego one to my son’s lego storage container.

Now I know labels aren’t really a necessity on the clear bins like above but it is especially helpful on the fabric bins like the ones I use in my playroom.

I’m definitely going to replace my labels with Laurieanns because hers will stand out so much better than mine do. I know it isn’t too hard to make your own labels on your computer but what I know, as I know Laurieann does also, is that not everyone has the time to do so. For $5.00 a set even the busiest of moms can have clearly labeled toy bins. It is so important for kids to be able to see quickly and easily what goes where so that we aren’t setting them up for failure. So great!

Another one of my favorite items that Laurieann makes is something that organizes your kids computer and TV time….coins called Media Money. Each little laminated coin designates 30 minutes of media time. I like that I can use these coins as rewards for good behavior or completed chores. Then when they use them to watch TV or play computer they turn them back into me. It’s a great way to keep track of the time without it hurting your head trying to remember who did what when and for how long. They even come in different colors which is perfect for different kids.

For menu planning enthusiasts she offers a laminated menu planner as well as grocery list set that serves to save on paper. The menu planner has room to menu plan breakfast, lunch and dinner and the grocery list is conveniently broken down into grocery store sections making it very efficient. Simply write on and wipe off.

The Organize It Mom’s charts , lists, cards and coupons are super fun and easy to use with professional quality colorful graphics. She has many other products listed on her site, too many to mention here, so you’ll have to head on over and check out her site for yourself. I’m confident that you’ll find something there to help you on your organizational journey.

I’m also super excited to announce that Laurieann has joined on as one of Org Junkie’s Monthly Organizing Round-Up sponsors. Participating in the round-up gives you the opportunity to win an Organize It Mom prize package!
