Shutterfly Photobook Giveaway

November 4, 2009 | Filed Under Photos | 208 Comments

Updated to add:  This giveaway is now closed.  The winners are #158 Nikki and #186 Sophie!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Photobooks changed my life!  I absolutely have converted over from printing individual digital pictures and filing them away in an uninteresting album to creating beautiful photobooks that are fun to look and way less work to produce than traditional scrapbooking.  They also make stunning inexpensive gifts!

shutterfly

I recently had the pleasure of creating a photobook using Shutterfly.  They sent me a coupon for a free photobook and I jumped at the chance to create an album of our summer camping trip because both my mom and sister have used Shutterfly in the past and told me what a great experience they had.

camping

So easy to use!

I am happy to report that Shutterfly was very easy to use and I was super excited to find out that they have a Simple Path format  for people like me who don’t have a lot of time and want to create beautiful photobooks fast.  With Simple Path all you have to do is upload your photos, choose a photobook size and theme and then have Shutterfly auto-fill those photos for you in chronological order into your book, automatically selecting the photo layouts and backgrounds.  I LOVE this feature so much because when it’s done I can quickly and easily make any necessary adjustments I want and be in and out with no fuss, no muss.  It really couldn’t be any easier than that.

Of course you always have the option of doing a more custom photobook as well depending on the time you have available.  It’s totally your choice, the cost is the same either way.

cabin

So many background options and picture layouts!

Choosing background wallpaper is what make photobooks so much fun.  Shutterfly has many different coordinating varieties to choose from.  You can use all the same one or be wild and crazy and mix and match them :)

album

Picture quality is superb!

Oh my goodness I was stunned by the first class picture quality.  The photos are sharp and the colors true to live.  Many of the pictures in my book fill an entire page and it feels like I could step right inside the photo it’s that clear.

flower

Oh and I almost forgot to tell you about one of my very favorite features.  Spine writing!  You can write your title on the spine so that when your books are lined up on your shelf you can easily grab the one you need.  Such great attention to detail!!

Want to try Shutterfly out for yourself?

I have TWO coupons available from Shutterfly for two free photobooks.  One 5×7 book and one 7×9  book.   Leave a comment on this post and I’ll select two random winners to each win one photobook to try out.  Winners must use coupons before November 30, 2009.

Deadline to comment is November 7th at 9:00 pm PST.

relaxing

Good luck and happy photobooking!!

Thanks for the review! I will definitely give that a try. I don’t know anyone that’s actually created a photobook so it’s great to hear that it’s easy.

I would love to do this with the girls drawings I have recently started scanning in instead of huge piles of papers everywhere!

They are 3 and 5 and the changes to their drawings right now are SO significant every day that it is hard to toss them!

      Thanks!

I am a recovering photo album collector. I can’t tell you the countless number of bismally boring photo albums that I have. I have even considered going back and scanning my (pre-digital) 4×6 pics of the kiddos to do baby albums with these photobook services. beautiful job.

I have had good luck with Shutterfly, too. I’ve created the photo books for grandparents and great-grandparents. I’ve also made calendars at their site with photos. They make great Christmas gifts! For each month, you can use one large photo, or make a collage of smaller photos.

Well, as you know I too LOVE any and all organizing products that save TIME!!! I was just about to post my review of Mixbook when I saw your post about Shutterfly! I think we are both on the same page here: if it saves yourself time, money and aggravation it works!! I have been working on a “Summer Fun’ album for my family as a Christmas present. So fun and easy. The best part: you don’t have to get that whole mess of a scrapbooking pile out! LOVE IT! And like you said they are great gifts-so order 2 for the holidays!!

Ky Katsafanas on November 5th, 2009 5:35 am

I LOVE Shutterfly photobooks. I have been using them for years. Each year I create a photobook for each child that highlights all my favorite pictures and tells the story of their year. They are great keepsakes. Each Christmas, we give small photobooks to grandparents to have at their house. I made one of all our relatives when my children were young so that they would see and know the ones that don’t live nearby and that we don’t see as often. Lastly, Shutterfly does run great deals. If you load up your pictures and start your photobook, you are likely to find a coupon deal or get a special offer that saves you a percent off or gives you free shipping. Also, Shutterfly does participate with UPromise, so you can earn money towards college at the same time! I agree, they are great and easy!

Thanks for informing so many as to the
fun and ease of use of Shutterfly. I have enjoyed using it for a few years. We had a fabulous trip this summer to Croatia and surrounds. My DH took over 900 digital photos (I only took 381). For his birthday
I made a Shutterfly book with “just” his
shots of Windows, Doors and Shutters. For Christmas I am hoping to finish a trip book….as a surprise.

Thank you so much for your review! I am very traditional about my pictures (I like looking at the printed photos in albums of some kind) but have been toying with the idea of photo books too. I take so so many pictures that I haven’t been sure it was for me. But, I am finding that it’s harder and harder to find the time to scrapbook so maybe photo books are the way. :) I think I’m going to try it out.

I think it’s great that you are motivating your followers to do something with their digital images. It is something I have been doing for 9+ years as a Creative Memories consultant.

I’ve made dozens of storybooks using CM’s Storybook Creator software…they make fabulous gifts!

Now matter which vendor you use to make your books, I would encourage everyone reading this to at least give one a try by the end of 2009 – you will be happy you did!

Don’t let your babies grow up to be jpegs!
