Today I’m talking about my least favorite thing, cleaning!  I hate cleaning and there was a time that I actually assumed everyone hated cleaning but as crazy as it sounds I actually have friends that love it.    But of course cleaning is one of those things that must be done whether you like it or not.   What I refuse to do is spring cleaning.  It’s too much for me.  All that cleaning at one time, no thank you.  I do it all year round so no one time has to overwhelm me with the enormity of the situation.  In other words I like to keep it simple.

I don’t have a list I follow or anything, I just see something that needs to be done and somehow work it into my schedule.  But as you can imagine things get put off or I forget an area that should have been done.   What would make my life easier?  Not a schedule but a guideline to help me stay on track of my year round cleaning.  I found a terrific product that will help me do just that.

I’d like to introduce you to the gorgeous Spring Clean, Year Round system.

A lovely lady by the name of Travis makes these beautiful tins and what’s inside will change the way you look at spring cleaning as it takes you on a yearly journey of getting even the most dreaded chores done.  No it doesn’t do those chores for you but it will help you remember when to do what when throughout the year rather than all at one time.

Here is what Travis has to say about her system:

“This system includes most common chores necessary to keep your home “spring clean” year round.  It is not exhaustive and therefore blank cards are included for your personalization.  It does not include the daily grind kind of chores like washing clothes or cleaning up after dinner.  The frequency at the top of the card can easily be changed to suit your personal cleaning needs.  I am a wife and mom of 3 boys and 1 girl.  This is my personalized system and your needs/preferences may be different.  It is my hope that this system will give you freedom and peace knowing your house will be clean year-round with minimal daily effort from you.”

There are so many reasons I love this system.  Here are just a few of them:

1.  Beautiful container means I can leave it out on my counter where I will remember to look inside it each day.

2.  Colorful chore cards are included listing various cleaning/organizing tasks and a basic guideline as to the frequency they are to be done (weekly, twice weekly, monthly,  twice yearly, yearly, etc)

3.  Each chore card includes a task along with helpful hints and shortcuts on how to do it in addition to the ages of children that can help with that particular chore.  I am all about getting kids involved because we are not our children’s slaves.

4.  Monthly and daily dividers are also included so you can easily organize the chore cards according to the listed guidelines or what works for you.  I like this versatility.

5.  By following along with the Spring Clean Year Round schedule you will never have to worry about doing all your spring cleaning at once again.

I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of this system and it’s just another great example of a mom that saw a way to make life easier for other moms and used her creativity and skills to do something about it.  I love that!

      I love this. It reminds me of the Sidetracked Home Executive system that I have always wanted to try (but not motivated enough to make my own cards).

      Hmmm… tough choice, but I think I like orange/hot pink/blue best!

      This product seems like it would be perfect for me. Somedays, I just wander around the messy house wondering which job to do first, and end up getting nothing done at all!

      I would choose the darker tin. I would love one of these, I am an organized, clean person. But I would love the help to make sure I don’t forget something. Spring cleaning horrifies me because I realize as I am cleaning the grates on the vent that goes between our laundry room and the kitchen how dirty and disgusting that dust is on the grates. And each year I tell myself I will remember to clean it, then never do.

      What a fantastic idea! My fav color is the hot pink/orange..its so bright and cheery looking! I love the idea that you have included chores for kids…I know it sounds like a ‘no brainer’, but have you noticed that the more kids you have (I have 4) the more work that has to get done…then you (the mama)does it just so it gets done! LOL

      When my children were little they loved to help out around the house, now that they are older (16-9 yrs)they are busy with sports, youth group, and school…so I find myself just “picking up this or that”…by the end of the day I’ve cleaned the entire house! No wonder I’m exhausted by 6:00 pm !!

      I love the green/blue/orange one. I am the mother of 3 under 7 yrs old. I need something to stay focused because it seems like I am aimlessly wondering around like a Hoover vacuum cleaning and it never gets done. At least if I had a system and completed it I would feel accomplished even if my house still looked like a natural disaster hit it.
